Thank you for supporting me in my first Angkor Wat Half Marathon on December 7th in Siem Reap, Cambodia! Your donation will go towards Pacific Links Foundation’s efforts to prevent the trafficking of Vietnamese women and children, and support trafficking survivors who have returned to Vietnam.
Some key figures:
- Vietnam is the #1 country of origin for trafficking victims 18 and under in the UK, and #2 for all age groups
- In the UK 96% of all trafficking victims forced into slave labor in cannabis farms are Vietnamese, and of that figure, 81% are children
- The International Organization for Migration estimates that there are at least 100,000 Vietnamese men, women, and children in Moscow working as slaves in sweatshops and prostitution rings
- China’s one child policy resulted in an estimated 60-100 million missing women over the years, creating the world’s largest gender imbalance, and directly driving the demand for trafficked Vietnamese women and girls as brides
- According to Vietnam’s Ministry of Public Security, 60% of all traffickers arrested in Vietnam are former trafficking victims
- There are only three long-term shelters in Vietnam that provide support for returning trafficking victims, and two are run by Pacific Links Foundation

- Academic Scholarships for girls in the Mekong Delta who are at risk for being trafficked

Trainings for factory workers, managers and owners to reduce trafficking risks in the supply chain

Long-term reintegration shelters empowering trafficking survivors with safety, self-confidence, and skills to become self-reliant
