A Story of Resilience

A Story of Resilience

My parents divorced when I was just a year old. I grew up with my mother in a small rented house in the countryside. With no land for farming, my mother makes a living selling lottery tickets despite her tumor, making walking difficult. After my university entrance exam, I was torn between working to support us or pursuing my dream of studying pharmacy. In the end, I chose to follow my passion, knowing it wouldn’t be easy.

Five years ago, I became a part of the GEMS University family. The scholarship provided financial support and helped me improve my life skills and English. Through GLOW’s online courses, workshops, and ETOP classes, I’ve gained confidence in communicating with foreigners, which will be invaluable for my studies and career. Volunteering for Family Day and student home visits helped me improve my public speaking and deepened my understanding of fellow students’ struggles.

Thanks to GEMS, I achieved my dream of becoming a medical representative and now work as a Distributor Management at B. Braun Vietnam. Having fulfilled my own aspirations, I am passionate about helping others achieve theirs. That’s why I teach English to GEMS students, serve as a mentor, give back to my community, and equip them with language skills that unlock opportunities and inspire a brighter future.
